Mary Ann
Mary Ann, played by Dawn Wells, was a character on the popular 1960's sitcom, Gilligan's island. The original choice for Marry Ann was a character name Bunny. She and Ginger were originally supposed to be secretaries going on a much deserved vacation. After the pilot they decided to replace Bunny with a sweet simple "girl next door" Mary Ann Summers. Mary Ann was the average girl on a farm. She grew up on a farm in Winfield Kansas and worked in a Winfield general store. In the series Mary Anne did not have any relationship with anyone, although at one point in the show she makes up a relationship with someone because she was didn't want people to feel sorry for her because Ginger was always talking about her boyfriends. There is some contradiction in the TV movie "Gilligan's Island,Rescue" in which she was engaged to Marry a man after the three hour tour. She ends up not marrying him because she didn't love him and he ended up falling in love with her best friend while she was missing.
Mary Ann's role on the island was to take care of the typical "female jobs" at the time, which were cooking, cleaning, washing dishes and doing the laundry. She was most famous for her cooking, especially her coconut cream pie.
