Motorcycle insurance is very important to have. Technically you cannot drive or register a motorcycle without the proper insurance, but that is not the only reason you should het it. Riding a motorcycle is a bit different than driving a car. Different rules apply to motorcyclists. For instance, when driving at high speeds you do not need to turn the handles to make the motorcycle move to the left or right, all you need to do is lean and make sure you don't lose your balance. Motorcycles can be very dangerous to new and experienced riders as they take more concentration and fatigue you faster than a car would. Because motorcycles are more dangerous, insurance for them normally costs more, especially for the sportier bikes. No Safety Devices
On a motorcycle it is important to note that there are really no safety devices and no crunch zones to slow the impact down. There is only a helmet, which can be a little annoying at first and can get very hot. Make sure you wear your helmet when riding anywhere. Another bit of advise that you will no doubt be told is to wear thick pants(good quality jeans or heavier), a leather jacket and a pair of boots to protect your ankles from either twisting or breaking during a crash. None of these things will guarantee your safety, but they will certainly help in a crash. Insurance is for You
I think one of the most important things to realize is that bikes are not all that expensive and are easily repaired, at least when compared to a care. Th reason the insurance is so expensive is because they are easy to crash and the likelihood of you getting injured in the crash is very very good. As a person you are a little more expensive to fix so you will want to get insurance more for you and maybe whatever you crash into. Just be sure to drive defensively and only drive as fast as you can handle or the speed limit, whichever is slower. Play it safe and smart. |
